HUBERT de TOURRIS - Ashtanga
I moved to Chamonix in 1990. After doing mountain sports for many years, I know from experience the strain it can put on the body. Many people who practice sports have tight muscles, “knots” and experience problems with stretching, flexibility and deep relaxation.
I practice Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga daily. Although yoga makes your body stronger, more flexible and healthy, it also calms the mind, opens the heart and stimulates spiritual growth. I first learned about Yoga as a teenager from the book "Yoga for everyone" by Philippe Meric and from Zen meditation. It was only later, however, that I really began to understand the true meaning of Yoga. I continue my learning and attend international workshops with Mark and Joanne Darby, Mathew Sweeney, Basia Lipska and other great teachers certified by Pattabhi Jois.

INTERESTS AND PASSIONS
Holistic therapy has been a passion of mine most of my life. I have always known of the benefits of massage and taught myself Do-In, a form of traditional Japanese self-massage, a long time ago. In 1989 I travelled to Bali and gained a greater knowledge of the healing powers of massage. Then, I decided to train in massage therapy.
I focused on Ayrvedic massage and went on to study at Tapovan in France, one of the major centers in Europe for the training in Ayurveda. The two year course helped me to further develop my skills and abilities. I continue to study "Nadis" (energy canals) and "Marmas" (vital points) to this day.
Through massage I discovered Ayurveda. It is a vast system of knowledge about plants, food, astrology, natural rhythms and their influence on our health and well-being. I went on to study Ayurvedic nutrition at the European Institute of Vedic Studies. The small conscious changes we can make to what we eat can bring powerful positive changes to our lives.
