Kelly Aikins on yoga and skiing

February 23, 2010

Our bodies are still not physically prepared to be hurled down the mountain for hours on end using muscles that slumber unused for most of the year. Kelly and Choclo are currently working on a preparative yoga program that will have you in prime physical and mental shape before you hit the slopes as well as a restorative sequence that will take away the aches and pains from a hard day on the hill. Check out Kelly's interview and "yoga for skiers" teaser here and read on for a great insight into what your body needs to perform in the mountains.

Kelly Aikins began practicing yoga as a teenager, exploring a number of different styles in an attempt to heal a knee injury. Whilst earning a degree in Psychology and Human Kinetics, Kelly began assisting and teaching Power Yoga and Pilates classes at various studios in Vancouver and Whistler before earning a Yoga Alliance certification as an Ashtanga teacher. Firmly established in Chamonix, Kelly is settled yet never stagnant. Her continued thirst for knowledge and growth most recently led her to California where she was re-immersed in the beautiful practice of AcroYoga. Alongside her daily yoga teaching Kelly has committed to several projects in Africa including manifesting a real yoga school for the amazing and worthy yogis of Kenya. Check out Kelly's interview and "Yoga for Skiers" teaser. To contact Kelly or assist one of her classes visit Alpine Yoga Centre
